Alice Hutchinson

Samsonville-

     Alice M. Quick Hutchinson, 86, formerly of Samsonville died Jan. 25, 2024 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Glenville, NY.  She was born January 5, 1938 in Samsonville daughter of the late Otis and Wilma Beesmer Barringer.  A native and longtime area resident she had also resided in Sebastian FL.  For many years she had been employed at Rotron Manufacturing, after the closing of Channl Master in Ellenville.  She was the matriarch of the family, and was instrumental in the Barringer Family reunions.  She enjoyed promoting ancestry and family history through such things as the family cookbooks, and the t-shirt program for the reunions.  She was community minded and volunteered at the Samsonville United Methodist Church , and enjoyed time with others as a league bowler.  Alice appreciated the beauty of nature by taking frequent walks, observing all that the Catskill's had to offer.  She delighted in "people watching" and  had a real creative talent with various craft projects.  Her family recalls that she made a delicious homemade pecan pie which filled the home with aromas of love.  

     Surviving are her beloved daughters: Donna (Paul) Mayer, and Beth (Walter) Stephens both of Scotia, a brother Ross Barringer, stepson Ron(Linda) Hutchinson, 6 grandchildren: Darrel, Tracey, Alison, Lauren, Daniel, and Sandra, 4 great grandchildren: Lucas, Ryan, Dylan, Tyler, and many nieces and nephews also survive.  She was predeceased by her husbands: Clarence Quick, and Marlon Hutchinson as well as  her siblings: Hazel Haver, Vera Crispell, Grace Boice, Joyce Quick, Geraldine Roy, Gerald , Clifford, "Dutch" Lorin, Clayton,  and David Barringer.  

     A Service to Celebrate the Life of Alice will be held on Tuesday Jan. 30th at 5pm at the E.  B.  Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia with Pastor Han as celebrant.  Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 2pm to 5pm prior to the service.  Spring interment will be in the Hudler Cemetery Rt. 28 Mt.
