WEST SHOKAN
Lorraine B. Levine, 100, of Watson Hollow Rd. died Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in Kingston NY, after a brief illness. Born June 23, 1923 in Crivitz, Wisconsin she was the daughter of Nicholas and Isabelle Franzen Wirig. She was an avid homemaker, and loved raising her children and spending time with grandchildren. Lorraine studied nutrition, was an excellent cook and always made sure everyone at her table had delicious and healthy meals. She enjoyed gardening and especially appreciated the beauty of flowers. Lorraine enjoyed traveling as well as hiking and exploring the beauty of the Catskills with her husband Abe and their family. She was the family scrabble champion. They resided in New York City for many years, with a summer home in the Catskills which eventually became a full-time residence.
She is predeceased by her husband, Abraham in 2017 and her son, Richard in 2021. Survivors include: her son Henry and his wife, Lynne, of Litchfield, CT; her son Howard and his wife, Maryann, of Bound Brook, NJ; and four grandchildren: Michelle, Lorraine, Molly and Glen. Her sister Mary Lortie of Chicago and several nieces and nephews also survive. She was lovingly cared for at the end of her life by her full time aid Lisa.
Her Service will be held Sunday Feb. 18th at 12 noon at the Gormley Funeral Home, Main St. in Phoenica. Burial will follow in the Bushkill Cemetery in West Shokan.
