Chichester-
Debra Ann Corby, known affectionately as "Nin" to her cherished grandchildren, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Chichester. Born on March 12, 1958, in Dover, New Jersey, Debra's vibrant spirit and loving nature left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Debra was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Ruth Williams Corby, and her canine companion, Justice. Her legacy continues through her family: her son Emiliano and wife Melissa Delvalle of Chichester, her daughter Danielle Garris-Bruce and husband David, and her brother Earl Corby of Florida. Debra's life was further enriched by the laughter and love of her grandchildren—Antonio, Emiliano, Mariah, Serenity, Giovano, Gabriel, Ezra, Ariana, Elijah, Lucas, Alexis, Elivia, and Eliana—and her great-grandchildren Amina, Eliyanah, Milani, Michael, Mason, Melanie, Serena, and Giovano Jr.
Debra's life was a testament to her love for nature and nurturing. She spent the majority of her life on Foxhollow Road and Chichester, where she fed the birds and tended to her flower garden. Her green thumb was evident in the beauty that surrounded her home, and her landscaping talents ensured that her property was always a welcoming haven for family and friends. Her grandchildren, who were the love of her life, brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Professionally, Debra dedicated many years to the hospitality industry as a waitress, where she was not only an employee but a friend to many. Her customers often became part of her extended work family, drawn by her authenticity and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met. More recently, Debra brought her unique personality to Graham & Co. in Phoenicia, where her straightforwardness and sincerity were valued by colleagues and customers alike. Debra's unwavering honesty and her ability to be authentically herself were traits that those around her greatly admired. You never had to wonder what she was thinking, as she lived her life with an open heart and a candid disposition.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday Feb. 27th from 3pm to 5pm at the E. B. Gormley Funeral Home 87 Main St. Phoenicia. You may share a special memory, photo, or condolence with the family on Debra's Tribute Wall at www.gormleyfuneralhome.com
